What's On Ipswich: Incredible Festival of Theatre coming to Ipswich

The Ipswich Civic Centre theatre program will be further developed under the 2011-2012 Ipswich City Council Budget.

Arts, Community and Cultural Community Services Committee Chairperson Councillor Charlie Pisasale said the program would be expanded to incorporate specific initiatives for young people.

"One of the main objectives is to boost the variety of local entertainment available for youths, as well as encourage school children to take an active interest in the arts by providing teacher/education kits and tours," Cr Pisasale said.

Oliver! is based on the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, about an orphan who runs away from an orphanage and teams up with a group of boys trained to be pickpockets by an elderly mentor.
