Chefs To Help Tackle Obesity with Good Fork Week

Metro Hotel Ipswich International has joined other Chefs and foodservice operators across the country in the fight against obesity. By taking part in the inaugural Good Fork Week, where participating chefs have been asked to tweak menu items and deliver more nutritious options for diners.

The campaign, which is leveraging off October as National Health Awareness Month, and will run from 2 to 28 October.
Good Fork Week's launch follows the results of Unilever Food Solutions' World Menu Report 3, which looks at eating-out-of-home trends and found that 64 per cent of Australians eat out at least once a week and only half look for or choose a healthier option, despite 66 per cent saying they prefer healthier options.
David Manz Head Chef at the Metro Hotel Ipswich International has made so changes to the lunch time menu to include some healthy choices . One of David’s 'hero dish' menus can be found on the Unilever Food Solutions website
If you're interested in taking part or would like to learn more about the campaign, head to www.goodforkweek.com.au

Metro Hotel Ipswich International the Place To Be ...

Metro Hotel Ipswich International will once again host its popular Melbourne Cup Luncheon, so it’s time to spruce up your favourite hat, get out your best dress and dust off your stilettos.

The 2012 Melbourne Cup runners will bound out of their starting gates at 3pm on Tuesday 6 November  – the moment when every true blue Aussie will be fixed to a screen watching  as some of the world’s finest horse flesh competes to win the country’s most coveted racing title. And you can be part of the action, watching it all on a super-sized screen along with a host of other party-goers at Metro Hotel Ipswich International.

Celebrations will commence at 12 noon and continue until the conclusion of the race, shortly after 3pm. For the price of $75 per person, guests will enjoy a 4-course lunch, a selection of beverages (including beer, house wine and soft drink), Sweepstakes, raffles, lucky door prizes, a fashion parade and, of course, prizes for the best hat and best dressed guest.

There will also be a prize for the best dressed stiletto heel, with guests invited to be creative and decorate one stiletto for the chance to win one of three prizes from Obsession Shoes.  Stilettos will need to be dropped off at the hotel two weeks prior, and you must be attending the Luncheon to enter the competition.

The Melbourne Cup Luncheon is being held in support of the Ipswich Hospital Foundation (Sunshine Circle Appeal).

Hotel General Manager Ted Matthews said the Melbourne Cup provides a wonderful opportunity to organise a group of friends or work colleagues, to dress up and to celebrate a fabulous occasion, while also helping to raise money for a worthy local cause.
