Queensland Police Pipes and Drums Band - Starring Billy Raymond Australia’s favourite Scottish entertainer Billy Raymond, comperes 90 minutes of family fun, music and dance featuring the highly acclaimed Queensland Police Pipes and Drums Band and the talented Scotia Highland Dancers.


Among the finest exponents of piping and drumming the band has appeared at the legendary Edinburgh Military Tattoo and as guests of Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle. Renowned recording artist and comedian Billy Raymond provides his family style humour and well-known songs from Scotland that feature on his 14 popular albums.

Known as one of the finest military bands in Australia, the Australian Army Band Brisbane provides music for regal, vice-regal, state and ceremonial occasions, performs at festivals, gives concerts and presents precision marching displays, as well as fulfilling its military role.

Every year the band provides music for many varied community groups and receives acclaim from audiences wherever it performs.

Ipswich to Host Two-Day Girls Rugby League Summit in September 2011


FOLLOWING the success of the Ipswich Junior Rugby League Under 17s Girls Competition this year, the IJRL will host an action-packed two days of coaching, education and fun for all girls who love playing league or would like to try rugby league.

Each girl to register will have expert coaching from current QLD and Jillaroo players as well as highly experienced coaches and development staff.

All girls will sit an accreditation course as well as nutrition and strength & conditioning workshops.

The summit is open to all girls from all areas, not just Ipswich (within the age group).

Flood Recovery Assistance Extended


The deadline for primary producers, small businesses and not-for-profit organisations to apply for flood and cyclone assistance has been extended until January 31, 2012.

The flood assistance package was due to finish on September 30 and the Cyclone Yasi package on October 31.

In announcing the extension, Queensland Premier Anna Bligh said more than $159 million had already been approved for 12,417 applicants.

The Business Enterprise Centre Ipswich Region (BECIR) welcomed the announcement, saying it would continue to support landholders, business operators and community organisations still rebuilding after the flood.

Since January, the BECIR has held more than 150 workshops attended by over 1500 people.

Further workshops covering various topics will be held at centres in the Ipswich CBD, Ipswich industrial areas, Bundamba, Rosewood, Goodna and the Lockyer Valley.
